Our Canton location opened its doors in 2004 and has been working actively to enhance the lives of runners in the area ever since. By offering top-level service, a wide selection, and highly knowledgeable staff, it has established itself as a favorite spot for runners in Stark County. 

Second Sole Canton hosts team nights, special events, and works closely with NovaCare Rehabilitation in order to give customers the best possible experience. Our staff is comprised of competitive college athletes and seasoned life-long runners with years of experience and knowledge on all aspects of running. Staff members are also trained thoroughly on how to properly fit runners and walkers alike with the best shoe for their needs.

We pride ourselves on carrying the best running shoe selection in Northeast Ohio. We only carry the top running shoe brands, so we are prepared to help all levels of runners and walkers, from beginner to advanced. Whether you're trail running, road running, or hitting the treadmill, we have the best options for you.

Rachel

Rachel is the store manager at Second Sole Canton. Daughter of esteemed owner Steve Hixson, Rachel keeps the family business rolling by running the largest staff out of all the locations. She graduated from Mount Union and ran for their cross country and track teams. Rachel has been married to her husband, Grayson, since 2018. She has a 16 year old stepson and is a cat mom to two black and white kitties, Stella and 3-legged Patches. Rachel loves reading, spending time with her family, and going to Ohio State football games (go Bucks!).

Brent

After spending 20 years in the Financial Services sector, Brent made a lifestyle and career shift into the health and wellness industry and helped develop and run a boutique indoor cycling business in Hudson as the General Manager. As an accomplished marathon runner and native of Stark county, Brent wanted to make a greater impact on his local community and bring his personal experiences and practical knowledge to Second Sole where he is responsible for public relations and development. Leading by example and helping people achieve their goals is his passion.

Matt

Matt started at Second Sole in the fall of 2021 while in his final year of undergrad studies at Malone. Next year, he’ll be continuing his collegiate running career at Walsh while he earns his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. As an Akron, Ohio native, he enjoys many runs in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park system. With over 75 tattoos and counting, he is quite the artist and spends his time outside of running doing projects and portraits.

Jerry

Jerry is our most experienced staff member, having competed in numerous marathons throughout the years after running collegiately for Malone back in the day. A standout runner all his life, he now coaches high school cross country and track for Louisville, where he is also a sixth grade math teacher. Jerry enjoys spending time with his wife, Deana, and their three kids, Nick, Zach and Emily.

Mitchel

Mitchel pulls double duty working at both the Canton and Boardman Second Sole locations. Mitchel is studying exercise science as a sophomore at Walsh University where he competes for the cross country and track teams. Best known for his flowing golden locks, Mitchel embraces his Australian heritage with a classic "surfer guy" hairstyle. Mitchel likes to start his morning with a smoothie and he hates pretzels.

Noah S

Noah is a BGSU alum and now calls Malone his home. He was able to finish out his collegiate running career at Malone and is an assistant coach for their cross country and track teams. Noah is currently working towards completing his masters degree. He swears by his Saucony Kinvaras that he does most of his runs in, and his favorite food is grapefruits.

Noah G

Noah is a recent graduate from Marlington High School where he won several state championships and received All-Ohio honors. He will be attending Walsh University in the Fall where he will run cross country and track while studying exercise science. His ultimate goal is to become a physical therapist. Noah enjoys anything that has to do with running, especially running on the towpath, watching races, or even just working at Second Sole! He is always learning about the newest shoe technolgy and uses his personal experience to help customers make the best decision when it comes to shoes for whatever activity they are doing.

Dominic

Dominic is one of our newest shoe experts at the shop and he will be a senior at East Canton this Fall. He runs cross country and track and really enjoys the team atmosphere. When he isn't running, Dominic is playing his saxophone, listening to the Beatles, or eating pickles. He loves pickles! Fun fact, his favorite pro runner is Dave Wottle.

Claire

Claire pulls double duty, teaching kiddos during the school year and slinging shoes over Summer break. She's worked in run specialty for the past five years, graduated from Walsh University with an education degree and will be teaching at East Canton Middle school in the Fall. While at Walsh, she competed for the cross country and track teams where she was a three-time team qualifier for the NCAA D2 National Cross Country meet. When not hanging out with her cat, Thursday, Claire enjoys spending her free time (and money) at Target.
